Stop FreeCreditReport.com Scam.
If you haven’t heard by now FreeCreditReport.com has this very nice way of “scamming” people out of money. And yes I am talking about the FreeCreditReport.com that has those “nice” commercials on tv all day. The reason I put the word scam in parentheses is because they do tell you about it in very small prints and hidden areas so you do have a choice of accepting it or not. What I am talking about is the service called CIC Triple Advantage which they offer when you sign up for a FreeCreditReport account. The service allows you to monitor your credit score and other nice features which you probably didn’t want at all. The scam part comes in when you start getting charged $14-$17 a month on the card you registered for with this service. It actually took me a few months to notice these charges since I have online e-statements and don’t read it often (bad habit).
Keep reading for the solution…
The really bad part about this is how hard it is to find out how to cancel this service. It is almost impossible to find their phone number so you can cancel your service. But thanks to the modern world of the internet a quick search about the scam and you will find their phone number: (877) 481-6826. After you call you have to be very careful with what they tell you because they really don’t want you to cancel your application. Even worse they offered me discounts and new services trying to convince me and maybe hoping I forget or give up on canceling the account. But after you insist that you want to cancel your account make sure to ask for a confirmation number. I canceled mine a few days ago so hopefully it worked but I have read stories of people who still kept getting charged.
If you want your money back it is a whole new story. After you cancel you should demand a refund and of course they will say no and have an excuse but you can request to speak to the manager and confront him and make sure you mean business. I didn’t do this because I didn’t lose much and I believe I deserved it for not paying more attention. If you do need a guide on how to do this and more information you should read on HubPages article which is what helped me stop the scam.
Good luck and don’t get fooled by FreeCreditReport.com

Thanks for the heads up. I heard bad stories about them. This convinces me not to bother with them.
Whats strange is that you can get 3 free agency “report” a year. Mind you its a “report” full of history, accounts, balances, and inquiry hits. But you will not get an actual “SCORE”. I am disgusted beyond words to find out this fact. I have no more respect from the very little left over I had for credit industry.
Yeah I have a bad habit of not paying attention to my online statements either. They easily took me for a hundred dollars before I noticed. And for a service I never used other then the first time.
