Online Nicknames In Your Resume ?

November 24, 2007 · Filed Under Ideas & Thoughts, Tech

As the internet age keeps growing and growing a lot of us are used to using nicknames for most things. People do it to be anonymous or to have a “cooler” name. But when you are looking for a job and decide to Google your name, nothing shows up. But if you Google your nickname you find all the work you have done. Someone finally asked the question in Slashdot.org about whether is right to put your nickname in your resume or just put your name and no nickname information. Some employers will find out your nickname if they do there research right. But this is also a tricky situation because your nickname might be something very stupid and you don’t want to give a bad impression. Or maybe you did something you regret with that nickname and don’t want your employer to know. Thus, everyone starting to do work online should start considering using part of their name as their nickname or just use there real name. Unless you feel comfortable telling an employer your nickname so he can Google you. This is tricky but some people did give good answers in the Slashdot.org discussion.
