The Jena 6 Incident.

Thanks to the echo of the internet, everyone is finding out about the Jena Six incident that happened a few days ago. The truth is I found out through a friend that today everyone who wants to “speak” out against it should wear black. Later on I started seeing the Facebook groups pop out. Now the news is making some echo of this incident. The truth is I’m still not 100% sure of what happened and main stream media isn’t really talking about this, they’re still talking about dumb O.J. Simpson. As far as I know a couple of high school kids (who are black) attacked some other kid (who is white). When I say “attacked him” I mean they probably punched him and kicked him. The reason, I’m not sure but I heard it was some incident with a bike or something. The problem is that they’re or were trying to sentence one the attackers as if it was an attempt at murder and trying to make him go to jail for life. Now, what he did is wrong but going to jail for life? For a white where you didn’t even break the other persons bones or anything? I think that is exaggerated. It has become a racial issue because of the obvious reason that sometimes we can’t see past injustice and need to make it a racial thing so it seems worst and people would actually pay attention to it. Shame on society for still pulling the racial card on these issues.

I hope the kids who attacked the other kid get punished, but not life in jail or even a year in jail. Fights happen all the time and no one gets life time or years in jail for it. Specially not teenagers. This is just wrong.

Sophomore Year.

I know I haven’t written anything lately but it’s because I’ve been extremely busy. I’m in my Sophomore (second) year in college and living off campus. I’m also the Social Coordinator for the Latin American Student Association (LASA) at RIT. Classes so far are good, not too hard but none too easy either. Being a sophomore is so much easier than being a freshmen, less things to worry about. You know where everything is and how it works. Even though I’m still discovering things and learning other things. But for now I have all the basics covered. I’m trying to get my drivers license and hopefully get a cheap car, just for college. Hopefully this will happen by Christmas or before 2008, but this is very uncertain right now. Lots of news have gone by like the new (ugly) iPods, the cool new iTouch and the price cut on the iPhone (sucks for people who bought one when it was more expensive). I don’t think I’ve seen any new movies except for old ones. I’m taking a Film Arts class which should make me a better critic on deeper aspects of the movie. I just hope it doesn’t ruin every other movie I see because of small details.

That’s it for now,
