YouTube goes Hip-Hop.

YouTube has officially gone Hip-Hop/Rap with a new contest called YouTube OnTheRise Rap Edition. It’s a competition for DJ’s and rappers, if you can mix, do beats and rhyme then this is for you. The judges for this will be 50 Cent, Common and Polow da Don. The winner of the contest gets to record one song with G-Unit and some other prices. People have until August 17 to submit their video at YouTube and the winner will be announced in September. This seems like a great way to give more publicity to YouTube which will soon become almost an online Tv Channel.

21st Century Real Estate, Domain Names.

Domain Names is the new Real Estate market. Have you ever thought I wonder what something.com goes to? If you put your name and a .com on it, it most likely already exists. I tried getting my name Yasser.com and someone already had it. So domain names are like property, get them while they are hot and cheap. It’s becoming a very big business, buy a good name and sell out to someone who wants it. Obvious names attract more people than weird names. What is Google ? If they wouldn’t have made a name for them self no one would of known who they are. Big companies have odd names, but makes them unique. But if you have a real awesome Domain Name which is short and goes right to the point then you have even something bigger in your hands. This is definitely a market that people should invest on while it’s still hot. Domain Names go from thousands to millions of dollars. If I had the money I would invest on a few just to see how it goes. Don’t get desperate either because as years pass domain names are going to become less available and if you have a short and straight forward name then you have a good thing in your pocket.

First Episode of Heroes Directed by Kevin Smith.

One of the new best tv shows was Heroes. The story of different strangers with different powers on a journey to save the world. All of them start meeting up at different time and sometimes fight on the wrong side. The story was amazing and the special effects were near perfect. After the first season was over they announced that there was going to be a spin of, about the origin of Heroes. It was recently announced in Comic Con that Kevin Smith will direct the first episode. Can’t wait until Heroes starts again :D

The Simpsons Movie.

I went to see The Simpsons Movie with expectations and it delivered. Since the very beginning of the movie it is funny. That was probably the best of the movie that it didn’t build up to something it just started in funny. It’s like one long episode but at the same time it’s special because they look a lot better and bigger. They tried to put every famous character in the movie and some get more time than others “on camera”. If you are a Simpsons fan, if you aren’t but have seen a couple of episodes one in a blue, go see it because it is funny as it has always been. I recommend it.

Here is a bit extra on how to get free drinks and popcorns. This is only for the poor and lazy and willing to do it. When you go to an AMC movie theater and buy a large drink and/or large popcorn, you get a free refill. Most people don’t get that free refill so they throw out the cup and popcorn bag. If you go to a trash can or through the seats and see a large cup or large popcorn bag you can go and get a new drink or popcorn free. You might think it’s “yucky” but they give you a new cup and new popcorn bag, not the old one. But remember only one refill per bag/drink because the refill cup or bag has it labeled that it is a free refill.

Researchers Crack Every Certified CA Voting Machine.

This has been a long discussion that I’ve had with many people: electronic voting machines suck. This was also one of our last topics in our Computer Science 3 class and me and some other kid were the only ones against it. These machines suck because they are extremely insecure. People can change votes in so many ways. Even Howard Dean told us about this, you can see it for yourself on YouTube. But still people don’t understand this. Ballots might be slower to count but they are a bit more secure. Voting Machines can be fixed and altered in so many ways. Now they did a research and cracked every certified voting machine. Computers aren’t smart or fast, they just work with what you give them. If the U.S. makes every state use electronic voting machines which are buggy (remember Florida?) the elections will be fixed (easier). Say no to electronic voting machines.

Wikipedia founder plans search engine.

The founder of Wikipedia has announced that he plans to build an open-source search engine to compete against Google. Their goal is to make search results more accurate by showing programmers how it works and getting help from the online community. This is a very big project that is going to try to take on Google. It will most likely not do great against Google. Many have tried, many have failed before. Google has lots of resources and computers to work faster, if the found of Wikipedia wants to compete he will have to invest.

YouTube Debates Censored.

As I mentioned in my previous post, CNN had the power to censor videos. And I just read online what of been the most popular question. This popular question was about impeachment and president Bush and future presidents. This is a legit question and a very good one. This wasn’t the only video censored, as shown during the debate; a group of people posted the same question over and over again to get better chances of being asked and it was shown but not asked to the candidates. I believe that is a bit unfair. Here is that popular question posted on YouTube:

Target is only going to sell Blu-Ray players.

Update: this news is false. Target said it’s just that Sony is sponsoring something and they have a bigger display for Blue-Ray but HD-DVD are still going to be sold at Target.

The battle of HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray might be coming to an end by next year. A couple of months ago BlockBuster decided to only stock Blu-Ray discs. And now Target has announced to only sell Blu-Ray players in their stores. Online you might be able to buy HD-DVD’s but in the store only Blu-Ray. This war with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray might not be decided by sales or the people. In the end it might be what is more accessible to you. So far, Blu-Ray is winning this battle.

The CNN/YouTube Debates.

Today was the Democratic CNN/YouTube Debates. Anderson Cooper from CNN was showing videos submitted by users on youtube. I think this was a great idea that people had a better chance of being heard right from their home. The only small issue with this was that CNN was the one picking the videos which basically means they’ll show what they want to show. Hopefully in the next elections which I hope the CNN/YouTube will happen again; users should be allowed to vote online to see what videos are shown. It is kind of unfair that you give “power” to the people but then you edit them out.

The debate went pretty good. Some interesting questions showed up, some funny and silly things were also asked. John Edwards rephrased almost every question as he usually does. And he did that best when asked not to use religion as an excuse for not supporting gay marriage, which he denied using it but fliped floped around it. Hillary Clinton got the most questions because she is the celebrity. Obama was not called “real black” and talked a bit about everything. Dennis Kucinich did a very good job answering questions. Bill Richardson still needs practice with his speaking abilities. Mike Gravel got a bit more of air time and still tells people the truth about the other candidates no matter how much people ignore him. Christopher Dodd and Joe Biden…. well they were just a bit boring.

It was a usual debate. Questions asked and different answers were given.

The Future.

We’ve all thought about the future, one year, two years, ten years from now. I don’t mean technology wise or where will we be. I’m talking about how will we be, happy, sad, depressed, dead maybe? I’ve spent a couple of minutes, maybe an hour and a bit more, thinking about my future. When will I be married ? I could certainly see myself getting married maybe in 10 years from now. I picture myself as happy as the day I knew what college I was going to. I had the cheesiest smile that didn’t rub off, I was extremely happy. I can picture myself being a father, having kids. Being a dad would be the ultimate happiness for me, what a great honor. Try to be as good as a father as my dad has been to me, as my grandfathers have been to their kids. All the in-between of these things are a bit of a blur. I don’t picture myself settled down with a woman that I fall in love with, it sounds to fictional. I could picture all these happy moments because I hope and believe that these will be recorded as happiest days of my life. Read more…
