Yesterday, April 21, I went with my cousin and a friend to go see Gym Class Heroes at Alfred University. If you don’t know who Gym Class Heroes are then you better get to it and start listening to some of their music. They’re a rockish hip hop band they get compared to The Gorillaz but they’re a bit different. They have become one of my favorite bands and I recommend them to everyone before they get too big and they’re sound might change. The weird thing is that this band or at least he lead singer, Travis, talks about using drugs and encourages it during his show. He doesn’t say it directly but it’s no secret that he’s a junkie. They even have a song called pillmatic about using pills. And if you’ve read my previous post about Pot America I’m not for it, but they make great music and I care for their music, for what they deliver, for his life… that’s his problem. So, if you havent heard from the yet get to it and start with the old cd not the new one, then make your way to the new one.

I really didn’t want to write about this because there isn’t much to say. What happened, happened and everyone knows about it. It’s a tragedy and hopefully it won’t happen again. This world is full with crazy people that keep screwing it up for the rest of us. Some people complain about the media using this to become popular and trying to exploit these situations; yes it’s true, but that is their job to let eveyone know what’s happening. If you complain about it when talking about Anna Nicole Smith, then there I would agree that the media exploited that. But if there is anything the media should be covering should be the big issues, kid in africa that become soldiers and kidnapped (Invisible Children). Im tired about people complaining about the war, fuck that. If you go join the army and die that is your problem you were stupid enough to do that. But if you die without your will, out of nowhere then that is different. So people stop complaining about your life, about the media not doing their job because they never will, just look beyond that and try to help out others.
And if you’re crazy trying to shoot up a school; do us a favor and just kill yourself because we don’t need you in this world and leave the rest of us alone.
Now this movie is weird. If you have seen the trailers you noticed that it is full with action. There are two movies in GrindHouse with two different stories, each about an hour and twenty minutes. There is also trailers or previews for weird movies that will never come out. The first movie, Planet Terror, is not a bad movie. It’s just like 28 days later where people are infected and are trying to survive by killing the people infected; the infection is transmited through the blood but they also know of a temporary cure. The idea is not ver new, it’s been done. But it is Quentin Tarantino so everything blows up, things are exagerated and some things don’t even make sense.
The second movie, Death Proof, is about a guy with a nice car that kills or harms girls. But then he runs into a group of crazy girls that go for revenge. This movie is even worse than the first one, it looks like an episode of a show where you would think there will be more coming or more explanation to things but there isn’t becase its only one episode. I believe the whole movie, Grindhouse, is overrated and don’t really suggest watching this. It’s just blood, explosions and things with bad logic. Avoid waisting your money on this movie.
I’ve never smoked and I never plan to. That is just my personal opinion about smoking; I know a lot of smokers. And now that I am in college I even know more people that smoke pot (marijuana). The statistics so far are that at least 2/3 people who smoke also smoke pot. Also at least 3/5 people in college have smoked pot once during college and probably 1/3 became a pot addict. This may not sound like something big to you but it just surprised me to know how many people actually do drugs on campus. Campus security/safety doesn’t really care much for it. It goes something like this: if they don’t bother us, we won’t bother them. Now I realize why there are so many college drop outs; most of them can’t concentrate in school because they get too adicted to drugs and some start trying other types of drugs and it’s down hill from there.
Yes, we live in pot america. Almost everyone in this country does drugs or has done drugs or will do drugs. Even the current president smoked some weed and everyone knows it because he said it himself. I wonder how long until it moves to another drug and the whole country just becomes a drugie nation. If you smoke pot, good for you. The question is can you control it? Can you control yourself? Because if you can’t you will probably kill someone in a car accident. Yeah, we have all heard that before also from drinking but I know some people that already crashed, they where just lucky enough to survive.
