Life.

Today I watched a great spanish movie called Mar Adentro (Sea Inside); it’s about the life of Ramon Sampedro, a person who was paralyzed after a diving accident. This person after years of not being able to do nothing, wanted to die. But in Spain, euthanasia was/is (not sure about now) legal and his friends would of gone to jail for murder. He wrote a book about his life and later on in 2004 the movie came out. In 1998 Ramon Sampedro finally died with the help of some of his friends. He said he had no life because he couldn’t do anything or touch anything. This is a well known case and very sad case, a person who wishes death not because of depression but because feels he already is dead.

Before watching this movie I agreed that euthanasia should be legal; everyone should have the right to take their own life if they’re in pain. But he wasn’t in pain, at least not phisical pain, just emotional pain. The question then would be, how could we define the certain level of pain you would need in order to have euthanasia practiced on you. Or should we just make suicide legal and let people kill themself because, it is their life and they should do what they want with it. This guy, Ramon Sampedro, was a brilliant person, he was a writer, a thinker. When you don’t have anything else to do in life, you think and thats how great thinkers come.

After watching this movie and learning about this guys life, I don’t really know what to think about euthanasia. Yes if you’re are suffering almost dying and you wish to die, go ahead. But how could we deffine suffering, everyone might have a different meaning of it. He obviously was capable of doing things in life, he wrote a book, he touched peoples life, he made people think about life, value life. If I would of been in his situation I probably would see death as an option, probably the only option, but it’s also the easy way out. Should cancer patients just die, instead of trying to get better and live an extra couple of  years?

How to define life ? Who has control over our lifes? (obviously the goverment right now) Is there a good reason to die? Is suicide acceptable ? What do you think about all of this, please leave an opinion.

    that was a hard one…

    This subject it’s pretty subjetive.
And life is pretty…deep, to find a correct answer about it. But what is correct? what is fine? Just for the fach that every individual is suposse to do whtever they want with thir life, it is hard to answer on a way that everyone agree.

But anyways, now days, to me; life its been more than being here on erth thinking, and walking. Life is…living, and when i say living i mean, run, jump, cry, suffer, laught, think, feel, enjoy, get desilusionated, lear, accept, reject, smell, touch…to live is to take something of everything you see and persive. And with all thins, i really believe that we control our onw life, we have options, and we have descitions. And those one afect ourselves and the rest, in someway it does. And those descitions we make are the responsible of the things that will come out on our future life, and that’s what i call destiny: the results of my old acts.

And, diyinng…im not sure if there’s a good reazon or not to die. But whati wonder is what is good or what is bad?, that up to you and your circunstances. And something to be aware of is that, those cirscustances and tha descitions u make abaut them, will have a concecuence that will afect u and the rest, again. Yes, like a Vicious circle. And this is my point. This cuestio will tkae u to other, and onether and another, and you will end wondering what the fuck you are doing here? or why are you still here? or whatis your purposse in life? or if it is fair to dye the way that guy did?, etc….

so i think It’s just that someones are less patients than others, or more negative, or some just think that life is more than be doing the same shit over and over again. Suicide is the easiest way out, and teh stupiest one. But those who do it, dont think about that fac, they just care about endig with all teh pain, as u said, and that’s because the emotional pain it’s stronger than our logical thinking. It is stronguer than our own wishes of going on and positive thining… Those years have change my mind about suicide, and i desagree with it. But if that;s someone descition i respect it, not acept it.

PS: Sorry for the mega comment…
