Life.

Today I watched a great spanish movie called Mar Adentro (Sea Inside); it’s about the life of Ramon Sampedro, a person who was paralyzed after a diving accident. This person after years of not being able to do nothing, wanted to die. But in Spain, euthanasia was/is (not sure about now) legal and his friends would of gone to jail for murder. He wrote a book about his life and later on in 2004 the movie came out. In 1998 Ramon Sampedro finally died with the help of some of his friends. He said he had no life because he couldn’t do anything or touch anything. This is a well known case and very sad case, a person who wishes death not because of depression but because feels he already is dead.

Before watching this movie I agreed that euthanasia should be legal; everyone should have the right to take their own life if they’re in pain. But he wasn’t in pain, at least not phisical pain, just emotional pain. The question then would be, how could we define the certain level of pain you would need in order to have euthanasia practiced on you. Or should we just make suicide legal and let people kill themself because, it is their life and they should do what they want with it. This guy, Ramon Sampedro, was a brilliant person, he was a writer, a thinker. When you don’t have anything else to do in life, you think and thats how great thinkers come.

After watching this movie and learning about this guys life, I don’t really know what to think about euthanasia. Yes if you’re are suffering almost dying and you wish to die, go ahead. But how could we deffine suffering, everyone might have a different meaning of it. He obviously was capable of doing things in life, he wrote a book, he touched peoples life, he made people think about life, value life. If I would of been in his situation I probably would see death as an option, probably the only option, but it’s also the easy way out. Should cancer patients just die, instead of trying to get better and live an extra couple of  years?

How to define life ? Who has control over our lifes? (obviously the goverment right now) Is there a good reason to die? Is suicide acceptable ? What do you think about all of this, please leave an opinion.

My Hommies

I have a long time I havent written anything and it’s because I’ve been a bit busy and I have nothing really good to talk about. I believe that if I can’t say ‘nothing nice, then I won’t say ‘nothing. Yes, today I have the ghetto slangs. Anyways… I decided to talk about my “hommies” , my friends, the ones I consider friends, my boys from back home. Growing up my friends have always been older than me by at least 2 years. Which means I learned about everything before the kids in my classes, you learn from people with experience, usually people older than you. I first want to give a shout out to my main man (G.) who is really far away right now, but he will always be my friend because we’re the best at what we do (shhh secrets). Then there’s the guys from school, my party boys, who I went to parties with, who I chilled out with, giving me bad advices most of the times, but were always there for anything else.

Those are mostly my “social” friends, then we have my “other party” boys who loved to hang out, all we needed was the bottle (thanks for teaching) and the dominos; because thats how we do it. Hanged out with them almost every other weekend, most of them were about 3 or 4 years older than me so that ment double trouble, double partying. I also have to mention my latest buddies, the ones I started hanging out with during senior years; these guys are always ready to party and are always looking for one. And if there is no party that night then it means go chill with the girls, the “bad” girls.

So this goes dedicated to all my friends, the ones who were, the future ones, and the ones that will never die in my memory because they are my hommies.

I love you guys, and thats being real with you. True friends, never lie.

PS: The girls, my girls will also have a post soon.

300.

I went out this morning to see 300, not a disapointment. I had been wanting to watch this for a long time now, lot of buzz was started about this movie and it was well worth it. I really liked the fighting scenes, showing brutal reality of how wars were back then. The picture of the movie is really good, taking some good picture shots and the use of greyish (Im guessing, tacking out blue and red) in some parts of the movie. The whole movie is really good, start to end it is an adventure. I kind of compare it to Gladiator, if you liked that, you will like this also. It is not as great, but it is really good. If you were thinking about watching it, stop thinking and go watch it, it is well worth it. I will grade it an A-.

Long Live Spartas!!!!

War Sucks, Lets Party Tour

I am honored to say that I attended the first stop of this tour. This is a great tour, with Anti-Flag as the main show. Anti-Flag are the Gods of punk, they are punk, they are political and they are uncensored. At times like these we need more bands like Anti-Flag to speak out against war. They are touring with AlexisOnFire, which is not a band that I really liked but they are ok; a bit hardcore but with weird “normal” vocals also. Also touring along with Big D And The Kids Table, this is a ska band, it’s ok if you are into ska, I really enjoyed there last two songs; checklist and some other that I cant remember there name. Also in the tour is Set Your Goals, which I personally liked even though the vocals were kind of squeaky but I liked the hard rythm they had.

The main show, Anti-Flag, was just extremely amazing. They played: One Trillion Dollars, Turncoat, New Kind of Army, Die For Your Goverment, Underground Network; and other popular songs, many of there new album were performed also like The End. To top it off they had a special guest, Tom Morello, former lead guitar player from Audioslave, now lead guitar player of Rage Against the Machine (yes, he is back). I am also going to see them again on Sunday at Buffalo. If you have the oportunity to see this show, don’t miss it. Anti-Flag is true punk rock.

CSChat

My second project for Computer Science 2 was creating a simple Chat program. They wanted us to use a GUI, that was basicaly the whole idea behind this project. If you ask me, this is a simple, bit dumb of a project to give us. The hardest part was figuring out what they wanted us to do because of the weird explanation they use. My previous project on Battleship was a bit more complicated since it involved actually thinking and planning. For the chat program we didn’t even have to do the networking part because they gave us Classes that do this for us. The program uses one of RIT’s Computer Science computer as the server for the chat. Everyting runs very simple, I dont know if you are allowed to connect from outside RIT but you are free to try.

My code: CSChat  and here is the explanation of what we have to do Project 2

Zodiac

Zodiac is one of the best movies of 2007. This is probably one of the best movies of this new year and it might remain one of the best. It is based on true events and a true case. Zodiac was a well known serial killer from the 70’s; he left codes for people to decipher and wrote to editorials, probably for fame. I dont know if the whole storie in the movie is true, but it is based on a whole lot of truth. The movie might seem a bit long but it is totally worth it, it’s not a long boring movie. You always want to see what comes next and what is going to happen next. If you don’t want to kill the movie, don’t do research on Zodiac, do it after watching the movie. This is an A, run out to see it.

Korn Unplugged.

One of my all time favorite bands was Korn. Growing up it was all I use to blast in my room and love the broken doll from one there covers. As years passed I felt like Korn started to sell out, there was no tough strong lyrics behind them, it seemed a lot more comercial than personal. A couple of weeks ago I found out that Korn did an unplugged and they performed there popular songs with special guests. They started off with Blind; that brought back good memories of the power Jonathan David (lead singer) has in his voice. They followed with the world famous song (and the video is pretty famous), Freak On a Leash with special guest Amy Lee from Evanescence, she did a great job and made the song almost a masterpiece. Even without the strong distortion you can feel the strong harmonics and rythm of the songs, and even though there is no heavy screaming you could still feel the power in his voice.

Falling Away From Me, my all time favorite song from them came after; it was great, just like in the old days. They decided to play a cover song from Radio Head, Creep, which is a great song and I think they picked wise and a good song for them. They play a couple more songs and bring out another special guest, Robert Smith and people from an old band called The Cure (I’ve never heard from them, Im pretty sure they’re famous as hell) . If you were ever a Korn fan and loved there old stuff I definetly recommend watching this unplugged. It is a blast from the past and Korn has gone one step further in their music doing this unplugged.

You could watch the whole concert for free at Mtv.com
