Canon PowerShot A550.

Canon Power Shot a550

This is my new baby. Bought it recently; it is a great camera. It has 7.1 megapixels and 4x optical zoom. It costs $200 currently, which I believe is a fair price for a 7.1mp digital camera. It has a decent LCD screen to preview your pictures. For anyone who has had a Canon before they know that it is one of the best. It uses AA battery and doesnt support firewire. It’s a simply camera that is well worth it.

The Number 23

The Number 23, starring Jim Carey, is about Walter Sparrow (Jim Carey) , a man who reads a book called The Number 23 and gets obsessed with this number. He starts calculating everything in his life and it ends up being 23. After this, he starts obsessing over the person who wrote this book and the meaning of everything behind it. The movie has a good plot, but it starts a bit boring and never gets any more interesting. The first time I saw the trailer I was really looking forward to it, but after reviews I waited a while. Now that I have seen it, I could tell everyone not to rush to see this because it’s not really worth it. It is just sloppy and crappy. I don’t recommend it unless you have nothing else to do.

Lets Talk About College.

I feel like I haven’t spoken enough about college life and experience so here are some things about it. This is going to be specially for all incoming freshmens to R.I.T. (Rochester Institute of Technology). The first quarter you are here, whenever you see the sun, go out and walk. It will be one of the fewest times you will ever see it. Stop complaining about it being cold, you will learn what cold is in February. During Fall quarter it will rain, a lot, every day almost. During Winter, it will snow, a lot, every day almost. Weather is crazy up here, the temperature drops 5 degrees out of no where. Registering for classes will become the hardest thing for you as a freshmen, unless you wake up at 5:50am or stay up until that time and you get lucky enough to be able to access the system.

Don’t be a loser, meet people, talk to them, party. If you think playing video games all day in your room is awesome then you are probably going to the right school because thats about what 60% of the students do here. Depending on your major, you might have a better schedule than others, art students usually have a day off. I have been trying that and I have successfully failed, twice. If you are going to take Calculus classes, chances are you can not have friday’s off because there is always a Calculus class on Friday’s.

Living at RIT could be a bit comfortable, depending on your needs and where they put you. Don’t believe that all dorms are the same size, because they are not! Some of them are a few inches bigger or smaller and it does make a difference. Try to get to know your roomate, most likely you wont like him much because thats just how it go’s. If you have a car, you are a very lucky person, if you don’t then try meeting people with car. You will need them. Food is ok, you will learn the meaning of Gracie’s, at one point you will love it, later on you will hate it, and then it depends of the person you might think it’s “ok” or that it is the worse ever. Learn at what time each places close, because if you are hungry after 12am, your best friend will be a vending machine. Delivery sucks in Rochester, everything closes early, learn there timing also.

Thats about it for now,

Blood Diamond.

This is a great movie. Blood Diamond is about the search of a big diamond in the middle of the war and kidnapping of kids called “children army” which is currently happening in Africa. Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the main actors in the movie, doing a very good job (he is getting better) doing african/slang accent. I loved the phrase they use T.I.A. (This Is Africa), meaning that everyone that goes there is either a reporter, someone from the army or goverment or smugglers in look of diamonds and with all this anything could happen and you might die at any moment. Djimon Hounsou plays a great role, his acting I believe was extremely good.

The whole point of the movie is to show the world that every time you buy a diamond ring, neckless or anything with diamonds you have to think that it might have comed from killing people, inocent children that were kidnapped. Every time you buy a diamond, you are funding the war in Africa. But the main subject I believe is the kidnapping of these kids to convert them into soldiers or “men”, they brainwash them and have build an army of kids.  I highly suggest watching  Invisible Children  , it’s a documentary about these kids and how they live in fear. It was made by some college kids who decided to adventure and  find out what was happening in Africa. This tells a true story, this is not old news, this is happening NOW .  I truely recommend watching the documentary before the movie so you could better understand what is happening. These kids need the worlds help, fuck  Iraq they can handle themself, these kids  can’t.

Alpha Dog

Alpha Dog:

Johnny is a Los Angeles drug dealer. He comes from a good family, owns his home, several cars and enjoys partying with his friends. Johnny is 19. When his friend Jake welches on a debt, Johnny and his boys kidnap Jake’s 15-year-old brother Butch and hold him as a marker. Even though Butch has numerous chances to escape, he doesn’t. He’s enjoying partying with them, losing his virginity and having a…  (Yahoo.com)

This is a decent film. I really didn’t know what to expect from it. The trailers made it look a bit interesting, some violent gang members with a kidnap’ situation. I would really like to know if this was based on a true story because they make it seem like it is during the movie. Justin Timberlake didn’t mess up the movie; I would say he did a good job. I really liked Ben Foster’s character, he really seems out of the world. I would recommend it, pretty fun to watch movie.  I think it deserves a B. But gang/violent movie of the year is probably The Departed, still my favorite.

Ipods with Flash Memory.

Rumors have started, just google it and Im pretty sure you will find at least 100 sites saying this. Apple is planning to use flash based memory for the Ipod Videos. Right now they use hard drives, which gives it an extra weight, size and less battery life. Rumors are that this will be towards the end of 2007. The flash memory would make the Ipod Video a bit smaller, maybe lose some weight and more batery life. The cons are that flash memory might be a bit more expensive but since Apple already uses flash memory in the nano’s and shuffle’s then they might get it at a “decent” price and not cost them that much. Besides these rumors, there is still talk about the Ipod using touch screen, kind of looking like the iPhone.

Lupe Fiasco, Rahzel.

Last night I went to see Lupe Fiasco, Rahzel and Fly Guyz (or something close to that). The concert was decent, people wise, it wasn’t packed but it wasn’t empty. I was dying to see Rahzel, the human beat-boxer. For all of you who don’t know who Rahzel is; he is one of the greatest, most famous, hip hop beat boxer in hip hop history. He could do probably any beat and sing some chorus on top of the beat hes doing. He is just amazing, if you want to see some of his work I suggest youtube or visit his website. He is into old school, way back, reggae, hip hop. He knows his roots.

Fly Guyz, which were the oppening act, sucked. I do not recommend, they seem to still be starting up, still need to get there things together. The sound wasn’t very good, but thats probably not there fault.

Lupe Fiasco, the main act was awesome. He started up with some songs from his mix tapes which I didn’t even know he had mix tapes. From the songs from the mixtapes I recommend Switch, it was pretty good. He then went through his cd playing Your My (my favorite) , Kick Push, America Terrorist and some other songs. He was a pretty good entertainer, kept the crowd involved and was very ‘cool’ about everything.

PS: Lupe is nominated for 3 grammys.
